Lucas & Steve, DubVision Go b2b To Celebrate 'Feel My Love'

Today we’re joined by two dynamic Dutch duos, who after turning heads with their Afrojack collab, “Anywhere With You,” have reunited for the summer anthem “Feel My Love.” Lucas & Steve and DubVision are both hitting their stride once again with consistent touring and loads of new music and the feel good vibes shine through in both their mix and interview. Read on to learn more about their work together, favorite summer shows, top tracks of the moment, and of course new music!

Lucas, Steve, Stephan, Victor, what a treat to have you guys all here with us today! How’s the response to “Feel My Love” been through each of your eyes?
Lucas & Steve: Well to start, it’s amazing to see and hear the huge support on the record here on 1001Tracklists. Besides that, we’re having it crossover to radio in a couple of countries already which is really great this early. Also in our sets, it’s an absolute crowd pleaser. The festival mix that we did is always a big highlight and as you may hear very soon in our performances, a VIP mix is on its way, taking the energy to an even greater level.

DubVision: Yeah it’s been amazing so far! The track has been picked up by quite some amazing Spotify playlists and the festival version is smashing it during our live sets too!

Take us all the way back – do you remember the first time that you met the other duo or heard their music? What was your impression?
DubVision: We’ve known the guys for quite some time already. We chose this year to give our music a little more commercial sauce and after the success of our track “Anywhere With You” with Afrojack and Lucas & Steve, we had to do a follow-up!

Lucas & Steve: Strangely I think it took us a couple of years to really meet and get to know each other. Some artists we see every other week at festivals and others who tour as much us we see very rarely by pure coincidence. Fortunately we started to get to know each other a lot better when we all worked together on the Afrojack collab. Like ourselves, DubVision are real studio beasts who are also able to lock themselves up to nail a tune and while doing so, have the best time.

How did your relationship develop up to this summer’s collab? Could you each highlight a memory or two along the way in your relationship?
Lucas & Steve: Besides the good times that we had collaborating the first time, the record became a BIG success, so it felt natural to join forces again on another tune.

DubVision: We actually became good friends! Sometimes you have a connection, same interests besides music, and we love spending hours in the studio together. We have a lot of fun making jokes all the time!

Lucas & Steve: As we said before, we got to know one another a bit better when working on our first collab. The release was around ADE 2021 and we always host our Lucas & Steve and Friends show that week. We invited DubVision for the lineup. I think they came from another show and were a bit in a hurry. Right before they were supposed to go on stage they realized they had forgotten their USB sticks with all their music in the car. They couldn’t believe that they forgot them, but after searching their backpack a couple of times Victor sprinted to the car, rushed back and got to the stage right in time and they brought straight fire. It was an incredible performance and you could see how talented and experienced these guys are.

At another Lucas & Steve & Friends that we hosted in London (Ministry of Sound), Stephan’s suitcase got completely smashed up during the flight and was taped back together. After their set, we partied a bit before DubVision had to leave to the airport for their next show. We partied on and got back to the hotel around 6 in the morning. We were very surprised to see Victor and Stephan again in the lobby. Missed their flight. They were bummed out about it, but were still laughing. That’s what it is with these guys, always up for a laugh. Great dudes.

To celebrate you’ve crafted an Exclusive Mix filled with good vibes for the summer! Can you each highlight two tracks included and why they stand out?
Lucas & Steve: Of course, our collab with Afrojack and DubVision, “Anywhere With You.” And our new record with RetroVision and Erich Lennig, “Summer Love.” It’s the vocal mix of “Summer.mp3.” One of our big summer bangers during our sets at the moment.

DubVision: For us, “Starlight” and “Oxygen.” Two collabs on Martin Garrix’s new album.

“Starlight” is brand new. We were in the studio with some amazing writers, Martin and Shaun, to get this track down. The piano concept was already such a smasher, we knew we had gold in our hands!

“Oxygen” is actually a pretty old concept. We wanted to bring back the “All By Myself’ vibe and Martin loved the idea. The same writers as “Starlight” produced the vocal idea on “Oxygen.” It was amazing working on these tracks!

With what feels like the first normal summer complete with big festivals and regular touring in over three years, how are you guys feeling both personally and musically?
DubVision: Personally, better than ever, and musically actually as well! We’ve made so much music over these past two years that we finally can play live. Feels so good.

Lucas & Steve: We’ve been waiting for a proper summer tour for two years now. We’re enjoying it to the fullest and our schedule is as crazy as we hoped for. We’ve been incredibly inspired during Covid. We released a lot of music the last few years among which is our album Letters To Remember. However, touring just gives you a different vibe and new inspirations. We’re working on so much cool stuff at the moment. Really can’t wait to release it all. We won’t wait too long with that. There’s a lot of tunes that we’re releasing this summer already!

What has been a favorite recent tour date and what is one show that you’re particularly excited for later this summer?
Lucas & Steve: A very surprising show was the Donauinsel Festival in Vienna. We heard it was a cool one, but we didn’t know there’s three million (!!!) people partying there over a couple of days. It was just huge and one big surprise. Big shoutout to our fanbase in Vienna.

Right now, we’re doing this interview on our way to Brisa Beach Festival (Porto, Portugal). Our Portuguese fans are really really crazy so that’s absolutely one that we’re looking forward to. Of course we’re looking forward to our Tomorrowland Mainstage performance on the 30th of July also. Having high expectations of Parookaville as well, where we’re playing the Mainstage for the first time.

DubVision: Actually we are just finishing up shows in Japan, where we had two sold out shows. The crowd was so amazing, this is what we do it for. We even made a track as a tribute to this weekend. It will come out on STMPD x Tomorrowland Music around the festival dates!

And as we look ahead, what’s keeping you motivated, inspired, and creative on a daily basis?
Lucas & Steve: Right now a big inspiration is having our touring life back. We’re visiting so many amazing festivals and countries, meeting great people. Meeting our fans. That’s just something very special and inspiring. We’re also super excited about shows that we’re going to announce shortly. Cannot reveal too much yet, but really can’t wait!

DubVision: Gym and good food!
