Fedde Le Grand's "Nothing's Gonna Hurt You" Exclusive Mix
Fedde Le Grand joins us on Exclusive Mix duties to celebrate his new track “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You.” In an exciting return to his house music roots, his latest Darklight Recordings release is a must listen! Turn it up loud as he kicks off 60 minutes of high energy house music with the single alongside big cuts from Curbi, Hollaphonic, Matroda, San Pacho, Valentino Khan & more!
Fedde, thanks so much for being here with us today to celebrate “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You”! How’s the response to the record been through your eyes?
I have to say the response of fellow DJs and the crowd have both been amazing! It has been a secret weapon in my sets!
The track takes us back to some of the old school Fedde Le Grand sounds! What was the inspiration for the record and how did you progress through the production from there?
Well you always get inspired by what’s happening around you, and as house music is getting more and more accepted in the mainstream, I totally got back to my roots and started producing more of these kinds of tracks again. It just came natural to me.
To keep the celebrations going for “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You,” you crafted us a special Exclusive Mix. What was your approach to the track selection and flow?
Well I always have a certain flow to my sets. I put this set together with the same energy and flow with things from myself, my label and artists that I’m inspired by currently.
Can you highlight three tracks included and why they stand out to you?
Cytrax - “In The Future” is a track which was released on my label Darklight Recordings. It’s a future house track with chunky beats and a great atmosphere. Also the vocals are done by Cytrax himself, which is really cool!
HYPERCREW - “Never Leave” is another track which was released on my label, and the mood and groove of this track makes you really want to move. This track has great vibes!
San Pacho - “Pride" is a great house track with a groove you can’t deny. It has soul, grooving beats and a killer bassline!
In March you passed the milestone 500th episode of your radio show, Darklight Sessions, so congrats on that accomplishment! When you started the show, did you have any idea that you’d make it this far? What does the accomplishment mean to you?
No, you never know where things are going to go when you start, and that’s the beauty of it. For me it's just important that I always have the same enthusiasm when I do things. Once that’s gone, it will end.
You’re also fresh off your biggest US tour since Covid hit. How did it feel to be back there and at places like MMW for the first time in some years? Can you compare and contrast the scene and taste for music from this past tour to pre-Covid times?
It was absolutely AMAZING being in front of a crowd again and I feel that everyone felt the same. And music has shifted more to house, so for me it was like coming home.
Looking ahead to this summer, how are your plans shaping up? Are there any particular club or festival dates that you’re really excited for?
Yeah summer is always great. And thankfully I’ll be playing a lot of my favorite places like Tomorrowland, Ushuaia ibiza, Palmesus, Saga, etc.
Anything else that you’d like to share?
Stay tuned on my socials for more upcoming releases, I’m super excited for what’s to come!
