Pete K Is Back With "Burning"

We're joined today by Pete K, who's just put out his latest single, "Burning" on Release Deep. Pete has an extensive history of working with the Release team and tells us more about why the label works so well for him, goes in depth on his seasonal mix series, and more!
Hey Pete, thanks for joining us today! How's your summer been going, and what have been some of your highlights?
Thanks for having me. This summer has been great! It was really fun playing at Ministry Of Sound in London, as well as the Lisbon Boat Party in my hometown last month. Also seeing my Delerium - "Silence" remix with Stone Van Brooken topping the Hypeddit charts and getting great DJ support is amazing!

Can you pick your favorite performance from this year, and tell us about what made it special for you?
I'd say Ministry Of Sound with Release Records. Crowd vibes there are always unique. This time I also had my closest friends there with me so it was even more special.
You've got a brand new track out named "Burning." Take us through the production – where did the initial idea come from, and how did you turn it into the final version that we hear today?
The idea for "Burning" came up quite fast after searching for some dark cinematic bass samples. I was looking for something memorable but organic. As soon as I found this big brass sample I pictured the whole track in my head and did it in a few hours. I love it when it works like this.
What's your favorite element in "Burning" and what makes it stand out for you?
My favorite element must be that distinct perc sound placed where you'd normally hear the claps. I found it so fun to use and it just seems to work well with the kick/bass groove.
This track sees you return to Release's Deep sub-label. You have an extensive history of working with the Release team. Can you tell us more about what it's like working with each other and what makes it such a good fit for your music?
Release has really been like a home for me. We share the same vision and passion for music so it's quite easy to work with them. I'm grateful to them for believing in me for a few years now and allowing me to always try new things and express myself through my music.

You've also just released your latest seasonal mixtape, which is always a longer mix and thoughtfully put together. Can you tell us some more about how you select tracks and create the mix?
The mixtapes are something I'm really enjoying doing at the moment. I usually start by doing a lot of music digging and trying to find that one song that hits me in the feels or gets me groovin hard. I'll break them all down by genre, key and energy. And then I start putting them together carefully, in a way that tells a story. Some tracks fit so well together that it sounds like a third new track is being made. So all of the selected tracks and the transitions are calculated in detail.
Do you have any other new tracks in the pipeline that you can tell us about?
I have a new collab track with my friend Stone Van Brooken coming in October. And two new remixes which I can't annonce yet but I'm really excited about!

And lastly, as we look ahead, what are you most excited for in the remaining months of 2022?
I'm really looking forward to ADE this year as I'm playing two times at Club Nova. Also can't wait to play in London again in November!
